HEREWARD TEASER POSTER
A movie I'd like to see:
In 1066, William of Normandy crossed the English Channel and crushed the army of King Harold at the Battle of Hastings. By Christmas of that year, William was crowned as the next king of England, backed by the power of his Norman barons, with whom the new monarch systematically reduced England to subjection, defeating his rivals for the throne and destroying one rebel force after another.
In 1068, an English exile named Hereward returned to find his homeland suffering the heavy hand of the Norman conqueror. When he arrived home to find the last of his family murdered and his ancestral estates in the hands of a usurper, Hereward acted without hesitation and without mercy, determined to reclaim not only what was his, but also to take back the birthright of every free Englishman. Breathing on the dying embers of a dying rebellion, Hereward called on the conquered people of England to rise and resist the foreign invader.
Making a base in the isolated Fens at Ely, Hereward launched a new resistance movement against the rule of King William and his Norman aristocracy. For a time, the king was hard put to quell the risings, but at last he turned his hand toward the Fens and the last of the free, fighting English... and the stage was set for the final conflict between two ruthless, wily and utterly uncompromising opponents.
In the balance hung the fate of a kingdom...
